Privacy
ThreadVault has no server, no accounts, no analytics and no advertising. This is exactly what the app can send over the network.
AI classification
Runs on your iPhone with Apple Intelligence. What you save is never sent to a model over the internet, under any configuration. If your device is not eligible, ThreadVault still saves and searches, just without a summary or category.
The page you shared
To show the title and preview, ThreadVault downloads the page you saved, the same thing your browser does. HTTPS only, no cookies, no session that persists, and the response is size-capped. That download has one consequence worth naming: the site you saved learns that someone at your IP address saved it.
oEmbed lookups
When a page ships no preview of its own, ThreadVault asks the public oEmbed endpoint of TikTok, YouTube, Reddit or X instead. No token, no account.
Short links
To expand a short link (from TikTok or Reddit, for example) and find the real post behind it, ThreadVault sends a single HEAD request, always on the same platform's domain.
Embedded posts
Opening a saved post's detail view loads that platform's player inside a sandboxed web view. Cookies do not persist between sessions, autoplay is off, and only one message channel crosses back to the app.
Semantic search
If you turn it on, Apple downloads its embedding model once, from Apple's own servers. After that, every calculation happens on your phone.
What never leaves
Your summaries, categories, tags, article text and saved images live only on your iPhone.
